I am an american and am in melbourne, australia for 6 months on an exchange program. About 2 weeks in to my stay I met this great guy (who is an australian). He and I really hit it off and are basically dating. We have been seeing each other for a month now and everything is really great.
When talking about the status of our relationship, he said that he didn't want to see any other people, and i agreed that i didn't want to see any other people either. However, he keeps mentioning that he doesn't want to make me feel tied down while i am here for 6 months. He talks about how hard it is gonna be when i leave and how much that sucks. He also mentions that long distance relationships never work out. Still though we act as though we are a couple and all of our friends treat us as one, and i do not leave for another 5 months.
For some reason it is really bothering me that we can basically be in a relationship, but that he doesn't want to use the title and call me his girlfriend. Is it weird that this bothers me? How can i get him to just make it official, and how could i possibly bring up the conversation again?
