Why can't I send/receive messages from Verizon numbers?

I ported my number from Verizon to virgin mobile due to the drastic price difference, i know they use sprints network so i assumed the service would be sufficient for texts/data on Motorola triumph

Since I ported my number I have been unable to send or receive text messages from anyone I know on the Verizon network. I get sprint/boost mobile/virgin mobile texts fine.

I've been working with virgin mobiles illiterate tech support for a few weeks, all they can do is reset/reprogram my phone 5 times a day, which does not fix the issue. I've already talked to Verizon who says the number port was successful and they no longer have control over my phone number. I've also took my phone back to the store and got a new one. still having the same problem...

Is any one else having this problem, or know to fix it???

NOTES:
I have the virgin mobile MOTOROLA TRIUMPH
I have tried enabling /disabling airplane mode, GPS, WIFI, and data settings.
I've confirmed the 18 digit meid number is the same as the one on the box.. i don't know what else to do. I've had this number for 7 years and don't want to lose it
