Why can't you use an MP3 for a ringtone on the LG KG800 (Chocolate)?

Ok, I KNOW how to change my ringtone and everything, but whenever I change my ringtone to an MP3 which is on my phone, whenever someone calls my phone, it plays the standard "Ring 1" tone. Is there any way of getting an MP3 ringtone to actually work? I tried other profiles and other MP3s but it didn't work either. Help? Please?
