Why did i have premonition dreams?

For a couple weeks i was having these dreams that my cat was dying. I kept having them and end up telling my parents and they told me not to worry about it. But a couple of days after a had one my cat died! the one i was dreaming about died in real life! I was so sad but i just kept wondering why i had these. Can anyone here tell me why i was? I'm a christian so i don't believe in mediums or stuff so anyone have an answer?
I also was very worried after these dreams and he got hit by a car so he didn't die sick so i couldn't sense it like if he was sick u might be able too.
 
First of all, I'm sorry about your cat. It's very hard to lose a beloved pet. As for the dreams, since you don't believe in the paranormal that leaves psychology. It could be you saw something in a movie or TV show or read something in a book which caused you to have dreams that your cat was dying, or the dreams could be a manifestation of a subconscious fear of losing someone/something you love. You could also have been feeling that your cat was sick and this was manifesting itself in your dreams. This is the only case where your dreams would have been actual premonitions; any other reason makes your poor kitties passing a coincidence.
