Why did my cat just pee on the floor by his water dish and then knock the...

...water all over it? I was sitting here on the computer and I smelled this strange smell (not like regular cat pee or spray it was almost a meaty smell like broth) I thought it was my imagination and then I heard water splashing and walked into the kitchen to find my oldest male cat (about 5.5 yrs) looking stupidly up at me while a huge puddle from his just cleaned and filled water dish carried his pee all over my floor! I grabbed a towel to mop it up and when I moved the table I noticed there was more pee all the way across the edge of the floor but it was dry, it must have been recent or I would have noticed it and I did notice an abnormal amount of water missing from their dish today because I had just filled it the day before also. He must be peeing on the floor then spilling the water to clean it up and the water runs to the other side of the kitchen with the pee and then dries leaving dried pee under the table but no trace where I can see it. Also they (I have 2 other cats a 4.5 year old male and a 1 year old female) have been taking HUGE poops so even with cleaning the litter box every day there is a lot of poop in there at all times. I can't change it because I am pregnant so my boyfriend does it. Anyway why would he be peeing on the floor and if it is because of the litter box situation what kind of food can I give them so they poop less, what I am feeding them now is obviously no good because their poops are the size dog poops!
Do you think it could also be stress from all the changes and he knows a baby is coming? He is a very needy affectionate cat and has been particularly attention seeking lately.
