Why did they create new pennies for Lincoln when they could have just changed

the $5 bill? Pennies - worthless coins that nobody really uses

$5 bill - more convenient and has a bigger picture

So why make entirely entirely new pennies when they could have just changed the design on the back of the $5 bill?
 
They changed the pennies and not the bills because they just changed the $5 bills to prevent illegal copying. Plus it would cost a hefty amount to change the $5 bills again so soon.
