It seems to me that Satan's greatest offense was just simply exhibiting normal human characteristics and being a relatively harmless trickster; he didn't actually kill that many people, less than 10 in the bible, compared to the hundreds of thousands killed by god or in gods name in the old testament, and most of that on god's orders.
Instead of forgiving Satan, the all forgiving creator of the universe created hell, a disgusting place where satan was to be tortured for all eternity. Even simply killing the poor demon would have been more just than sending him off to hell. Then later when jesus was born hell was no longer just reserved for demons; yahweh decides to open up hell for anyone who commits the crime of not being gullible enough to fall for the frankly ridiculous story of a god who manefested himself in human form and killed himself to allow himself to forgive humanity.
How does any of this make the slightest amount of sense? Do you guys think Satan actually deserved his punishment, and that humans also deserve such punishment just because they can't believe? I'm not asking if you think this was god's will, obviously the bulk of you think so... I'm asking if you as a human being seriously think this was a fair and just arrangement.
