Why do atheists like to try to put away evolution when it comes to the

introduction of our perceptions? If evolution and natural selection is how we all came about then our very thoughts processes were also introduced by evolution and natural selection of genes. Our perceptions are not gods that appeared out of no where.
It seems that atheists are trying to step out from under evolution when it comes to our perceptions and feelings. Even our very thoughts would be the result of natural selection if evolution is the answer to all?
@dimebag: I am quite familiar with what you think a thought is.

Yes our thoughts are the result of natural selection and evolution. I don't understand your point.

Our brains aren't exactly godlike. They seem to be superior to the rest of the animal kingdom but they are highly faulty still.

Our ability to perceive things does seem to be a product of the evolution of our sensory organs, etc. When it comes to the mind, however, things get a bit more tricky. There is evidence that suggests consciousness is basic to the universe, for instance.(1) Complexity of organisms would then only help explain how consciousness is expressed, not that it is expressed.

Nothing, however, suggests that this basic universal consciousness must have a personality that can respond to human petition, or any of the other characteristics associated with the personal Gods of the world's religions.
