Why do Christians think their prophecies are impressive?

All it says is shit about earthquakes happening, but never says when or where. It says things about fish dying, but never when or where. How is this, in any way, impressive to a skeptic?

It's not meant to be impressive to a skeptic. Scripture is spiritually discerned, and that means that your mind can't fully grasp what's written.

Read on...
Daniel 2, 7, 8, 10, 11 predicted all the world empires starting with neo-Babylon, then Persia, then Greece, then Rome.
Daniel 9 correctly predicted the year of Christ's first coming plus over a 100 more predictions detailing the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
Isaiah 44, 45 correctly named Cyrus as the coming king that would conquer Babyon and how it would be done - the gates would be found open.

What about this one?

In Ezekiel 4:4-6 the prophet Ezekiel was told by God to do something strange, he was to lay on his left side for 390 days to show that the nation of Israel will be punished for 390 years for their disobedience. Then God told him to lay on his right side for 40 days to show that the nation of Judah will be punished for 40 years.

(Israel was the northern kingdom and Judah the southern kingdom that split from each other shortly after king Solomon died.)

Together these nations would be punished a total of 430 years.

In 606 BC the Babylonian empire carried away the southern kingdom of Judah, which was the last sovereign part of Israel (the northern kingdom was already in captivity at this time), thus beginning their punishment. After 70 years, under the Medo-Persain Empire which had conquered Babylon, they were allowed to return to the land. This was in 536 BC, but they did not follow God and returned to their sins.

In Leviticus 26:18 it says "And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins." Verses 21 and 27-28 of the same chapter additionally emphasize this point; that if they will not follow God that their punishment would be multiplied by a factor of 7. In verse 33 it goes on to say: "And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste."

After the first 70 years were fulfilled there were still 360x7 years left for punishment because they did not follow God (that's 2520 years!) In 536 BC this period began, Israel (as a whole), though in the land, was under the rule of the Medo-Persian empire. After wards they were under the rule of the Greek Empire, and after that the Roman Empire. In all this time they never returned to being a sovereign nation… in 70 AD Jerusalem was destroyed and nearly 100 years after that the Israelites were removed from the land by the Romans and were dispersed among the nations (<remember what Leviticus 26:33 says?).

Now here's where it gets a little complicated; the Jewish calendar uses 360 day years... If we take the 2520 years that they were to be punished and convert that into days according to the Jewish calender we get 907200 days. Divide that by our modern year of 365.25 days (the .25 accounting for leap years) and we get 2483.78 years that Israel was to be punished according to our calendar.

So now we start in 536 BC, if we count 2483 years from that time (adding one year because there is no year of "0" BC or AD), we get the year 1948 that Israel's punishment was to cease.

On May 14, 1948 Israel once again became a sovereign nation for the first time in over 2500 years. This was a perfect fulfillment of biblical prophesy.

Ezekiel 37:21 "And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:"

And God did just that.

God said in Isaiah 46:9-10 "...for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done..."
