Why do they make me laugh when they say that English is the Universal Language of Earth? Hahahah. NEWS FLASH!!
Not everybody in the world speaks English. Not even the President of Mexico, Korea, Japan, China, Russia, Spain, Italy, France, and Germany can speak English.
It's not a friggin universal language. Nothing is. It's called "lingua franca". The only countries who could speak English is the US, Australia, Britain, Canada, and Singapore.
And also, why do they think (the Filipinos) think that speaking English automatically makes you a smarter better person? Really?? Fine, let's put one of those people in Korea for 10 days. They won't survive very well. Why? Because it's Korea. No one speaks English there and still the Filipinos think that learning English will help you survive abroad...what kind of mentality is that...
Disregard what I said about the English speaking countries. Really, the English speaking countries are India, US, Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Pakistan, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, several African nations, and Guyana. These don't even include Mexico, Korea, Japan, China, Russia, Spain, Italy, France, and Germany. Yet the Filipinos still assume that everyone in the world speaks English because they see it as a "universal language".
When I went to the Philippines, they all saw me as superior and very very intelligent just because I speak straight English (that's before I learned how to speak Tagalog.) When I to Japan, Mexico and Thailand, no one knew how to speak English. Good thing in Mexico, I knew how to speak Spanish.
