Why Do Mormons Look up to Abram Lincoln?

I Love watching HBO's Big Love. And I have also Known many Mormons However, I don't understand why they look up to Ab Lincoln. Why is that?
I know Big Love is about Polyigmist, although they talk about repscting Ab Lincoln.
 
I think that most of our country looks up to Abraham Lincoln. He was the man who took a stand, and despite opposition, did what was right and emancipated the slaves.
