Why do sick and or dying Christians ask for prayers?

Why would they ask to get better or need comfort?
Why would they want to be healed? Is that not just increasing the torment of God’s test and keeping them away from their God for even longer?

To be healed by God in his providential care.

Jas 5:14 Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
Jas 5:15 and the prayer of faith shall save him that is sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.
2Ti 4:20 Erastus remained at Corinth: but Trophimus I left at Miletus sick.

They are afraid of death, just like their "Savior" Jesus.

Because religion is for the weak

For the sick its to save them and make them better and for the dying its their last prayers.
