Because that is where our faith springs from. That is the authority for our gift of faith. God speaks through the bible, very clearly at times. On the main issues of life, the true mature Christian does not have a personal opinion for he is absorbing bible truths and principles - and finding that they work in every day life. He has developed belief in the power of Bible teaching, a power which can be tapped, for it is a living book, meaning, that accepting its positive truths is empowering - the source of the power is God himself. This is the power of faith, which can move obstacles (mountains Jesus called obstacles) There is teaching in the bible that can free up latent or suppressed abilities in a person. Verses in the Bible act like keys - to a freer life, a more peaceful or joyful life, a more successful life etc. And so we joyfully quote scripture! Scripture is like sweet medicine to the soul - but you have to DRINK it in, digest it!
