Why do so many people complain about Spanish being spoken here in the U.S?

Isn't it somewhat of a pig-headed double standard for us to expect immigrants to learn a second language when most of us haven't?
angelino- How typical that you would assume that I'm Mexican. I'm a legal white American citizen, so are my parents, and so were my grandparents. Your bigotry is showing.

Let's see if I've got a handle on your logic ----
I'm an American and so I speak English but not Spanish (or German, or French, or Swahili....) Therefore immigrants to America where English is the predominant language -- at least for a couple of more years anyway -- shouldn't be expected to learn enough English to get along. That about it?

I'm 2 dumb to learn more languages. I try and try and never get it right. Maybe that's why cuz it's 2 hard. My Spanish speaking friends are good to me and laugh with me from my mistakes. I laugh with them 2 sometimes with their English. It's ppl who never travel outside of U S A that care I think.
