Why do some Christians think Dan Savage is 'bullying' them?

I saw a clip of Dan Savage speaking in a High school about anti-bullying, and he goes to why people bully gays, because the bible tells them so. And Fox news makes it look like Dan was the bully.

As a Christian I am a appalled the way some Christians still bully gays while in the bible it also mentions not eating shellfish, if a woman is not a virgin on her wedding night she should be stoned to death or even if she hadn't screamed loud enough while she was raped. not to mention slavery was justified during the Civil War with the bible.

Why do we continue to bash against gays? I just thank almighty God that I'm not one of those puritans.
 
This message mentions some Old Testament laws that Christians do not have to follow.However the New Testament contains clear prohibitions against homosexuality which should never however justify hateful behavior on the part of those who do not participate in this sin.


1 Corinthians 6:9-10




9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
