When I go to put the old truck in first or reverse, the truck shakes and rattles pretty hard, but once it is in gear it performs perfectly, and shifting into second or third doesnt do it at all(maybe because I am moving?). The clutch doesnt slip and the gears all work fine so I dont know what the problem is. Someone suggested that it may be dirt in the clutch???

If you know what the cause is, please help me. By the way this is the original drivetrain, not rebuilt(that I know of) but only having about 40,000 miles on it(we think). The truck has always been well maintained and sat under a tarp in an old man's driveway for 20 years.

thanks in advance

Yep im gonna say you had it right when you mentioned the speed. If you were to give it more gas before letting out the clutch it probaly wont shake and rattle. First gear is the hardest gear to due smoothly because its from a stop.

By the way, I shake and rattle into first all the time to :)
