i went off-roading in big watery puddles and ruined my alternator a few days ago (or so i thought). we replaced the alternator and the battery, and it keeps turning over but not firing and on the occasion that it does fire, it idles very weakly until it dies. i'm looking for suggestions as to what it might be and why. feel free to ask for more info if you need it, it's an 88 jeep cherokee 6 cylinder 4 litre 4wd. 165000 miles.
