why does my internet freeze if i open another tab?

i have bt broadband and after a month of the internet working fine it has started to freeze when opening another tab or window, or when i go onto some websites. this problem only started after someone else had borrowed my computer so i dont know if they had done anything to the computer to cause this! i have uninstalled and installed it again and it hasnt resolved it

www.spybot.com
or even better, hunt down the site for Lavasoft USA on Cnet.com, and get their Adaware.

If you have Windows, go to the Microsoft Site and search for 'Malicious Software Removal Tool.' Download that.

Also, clean out your browsing history by using the Tools/Internet Options command.

You'll be fine in five minutes.
