I see their commercials bragging about their amazing MPG, why don't they put that in
their light trucks.

A diesel Tahoe could get 25 mpg, a Suburban 23. If there is "not much of a market" they can
create one but not having Gas ones on dealer lots.
They could REALLY brag about MPG then.
I have a Tahoe right now and I would buy another one IF it got a combined 22+ mpg real world.

Same with Ford, the Excursion is GONE and they could make the Expedition a Diesel.

The tech is there, it has always been.

Maybe not in america yet. In Aus the Ford Territory is getting the V6 2.7diesel engine put in it from Jaguar. That may get put into some american model ford cars this year or the next.

There is no market for one. Same reason Dodge, Toyota, Nissan, and everybody but VW doesn't make one.

People refuse to pay $5k+ extra to get a diesel above the price of a gas powered one. There is no technology issues.

They do make Diesels but, only in the bigger trucks like 2500 series of Chevrolet and F 250s in Fords. A lot of the problems is you can only order a smaller truck with a diesel in it.
The big work horse trucks is the only one that farmers and construction companies would want a diesel in.

And of course you would be the first in line to drop an additional $7- 9 grand for that engine and better mileage. It is a $7800 difference for a diesel versus a gas engine in a Ford F250. How many miles would you need to drive to offset that cost?
