I'm an on-again off-again owner of GOOG stock. Obviously the Android mobile platform is taking off tremendously. I just don't understand why they don't require handset manufacturers to pay a token $15 (or so) fee to monetize it better. I understand that the Google MO is to give it away for free, and then make $$$ off the ad network... but still, given that paying for operating systems isn't exactly considered radical, I think they could get away with it. Are they waiting for the platform to become more entrenched?
