My internet on one of my computers has slowed down a fair bit while my other is completely fine. I've scanned it, cleared my history and checked my usage (which is completely fine). From what i've done, the computer seems to detect no problem. Its been going on for days. Does anyone know what's the problem?

Try a online virus scan here are some address to try Safety.Live.com...TrendMicro.com...get some protection Comodo.com is offering a complete security suite free and yes they can be trusted if you want to do it yourself I recommend Avira.com along with Safer-Networking.org(spybot search&destory) or SpywareBlaster from majorgeeks.com or Lavasoft.com...MalwareBytes.org is another good one to consider althrough the last two don't offer free protection some even recommend two anti-spyware scanners just to be on the safe side the other bit of advice i have to offer is external firewalls they hardwire to the machine with usb or firewire hook up now thats cutting edge tech.Remember paid is usally better than free however since Comodo.com kind offer that may not be the case anymore

Boot to safe mode with networking and try browsing (Reboot, press F8 repeatedly after you see your Dell or HP screen) Is it still slow? If it isn't slow in safe mode, you have malware or other programs hogging resources on the machine making it slow. Find a geek and bribe him with Halo posters or Jolt Cola to come over and fix it.

If it is also slow in safe mode, you may have a hardware issue like bad RAM or bad hard drive. Again, bribe a geek for this.

Slow internet happens for various reasons. You might have poor hardware connecting your machine to the wall. Maybe your modem-router is not configured correctly. is it slow while surfing the internet, or when running progrmas? either way, you can make it go faster. If your internet is slow, Check your hard drive space, if your computer is full of crap it will run sluggish. I only mention this because your a might have a crap load of stuff downloaded. Try to get rid of Programs, Games and or Movies you have that you rarely or never use. I don't think it's a virus because they usually render windows inoperable, but it doesn't hurt to run a scan. Make sure your only have one virus scanner installed on your computer. If you have more than one they will fight for superiority, which will slow your computer down or end up screwing it up "blue screens = BOSD". Your last step is to clean your windows registry, it probably needs cleaned up, download CCleaner for free or since you know how to use torrents get yourself a copy of AVG PC Tuneup..Do all & check speed here once scanmyspeed.com
