I know what you mean. I can't stand characters that are made so stereotypically "cute" and "ditsy" with the TOTALLY OVERDONE SCHOOL UNIFORM!!! (hates school uniforms to no end) In fact, there are many anime/manga I just can't stand. BUT!!!!!!! There are many I just can't get enough of. I think that the fantasy, combat, concepts, plots in MANY anime are just too awesome. The characters as well, I think it's awesome when characters with hilarious/unique personalities and totally funky/cool appearances show up in an anime/manga. But it can't be too stereotypical. Like One Piece and Gintama, which are original with unique characters, that don't focus on pleasing pervy boys with their hands down their pants or awkward teenage girls with... well.... their hands down their pants. All the anime I like are also hilarious to no end! And just as inspirational, with great soundtracks and animation techniques. Like Air Gear, which has fabulous music and is extremely funny, as well as teaches you to never give up and practice for an ultimate goal. Because something might be exaggerated or unrealistic, don't put it down. Find better reasons. Like the one about the stereotypical characters, which has a point and strong felt opinion.
