SO many people are saying they should be EAST asian. Ok first...the show isn't even japanese...it's american. secondly, NONE of the characters in the cartoon even look japanese. i read a lot of comments from east asians saying that if it's anime, it should be a japanese person playing that character. what i don't get is that anime characters look...white. i am a mix of asian and white personally (german, east indian, mongolian) and i think the cast is pretty good.
i think its actually a GREAT idea that the cast doesn't look EXACTLY like the cartoon. why? well cartoon is cartoon...real people are real people. also, m. night shy is putting his own spin on the movie, like many directors do when remaking something.
another thing is, it annoys me when people say "oh that middle eastern guy is playing zuko!" DEV PATEL is INDIAN PEOPLE. indians are completely different from middle easters. india isnt even in the middle east, its in south asia. stop being so ignorant, and get a fuckin map or something.
