Why is everyone telling me to enjoy life rather than be serious about my future?
You are a winner for making progress. You won't let the grass grow under you. Over achievers are constantly on the go with great ambition. All of these wonderful traits are good. What your friends and family are saying is to slow down and enjoy life a little and have fun. Yes over achievers are boring because they are constantly working on their next project. You have to decide a good reasoning of time to stop and have fun. Leave the work and achievements rest for a night out on the town. Or a vacation away for a week. Actually you should be very proud of the work performances you've accomplished. Let me tell you about my mother and father. They divorced because my father was an over achiever. He was an excellent father and great provider, but didn't want to take mom out on a date and leave the work behind. After many years my mother was lonely for attention and she stepped out after 25 yrs of marriage. She wanted to have a friend and a lover and a good time away from the work and always work and no play. Hopefully, you see the story of the future here because this sounds like you. I am sure you are a great person and a wonderful achiever, but life also has a resting party place with your loved ones. I see you don't want the party life that you often see where people aren't making any progress. I don't mean that kind of party people. You are not an outcast either. But every so often take a good breather away from the business and the work. Take your family or girl friend out on a cruise or on a real get away and remember to leave the work behind. We all need the enlightening freedom for enjoyment with the ones you love.
