Why is my Android phone using so much credit?

I recently bought an HTC Wildfire and I've noticed that the credit on my phone is going down a lot each day. I don't know if it's accessing the internet on it's own, which is why it's using so much (if so could you tell me how to make it stop doing this)

hi my phone which is also a HTC Wildfire did that too and i was messing about with it one day and i turned of my mobile network which is found in the quick settings bar in the notification tab and i havent lost heaps of credit since
