Why is my computer lagging?

My computer only lags when I play PC games but this computer was meant for gaming.

P-7805u Gateway Laptop
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHz, 2261 MHz
Hard Drive: 125 GB
Screen: 17.2" Generic PnP Monitor
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS
Sound: High Definition Audio Controller
RAM: 4 GB
