why is my internet so unreliable?

i have had bellsouth fast access dsl now for the past 8 year. and until recently lee the connection will drop for no reason for about 2 mins. i have counted it doing it 5 times in one day. it has pissed me off so bad i have felt like getting a new provider. what could be the problem?
 
I would start with your router configuration first, if you have one. If you are just running off the modem, you could be looking at the modem or even perhaps line problems outside. I would contact your ISP.
