This was really important because it meant that he was accepted in their group. Maybe it's not that important that they called him Caveman but that they just gave him a nickname. Nobody has a particular nickname. Most of the names -like armpit- are quite meaningless.I think that they called him like this because of the fact that he's really big and slow at digging holes. Another reason to take into account is that they named him like this because he found the fossil and so the other boys thought that he must be a Caveman due to his discovery.</blockquote>
