Why is T-Mobile charging me data?

My plan is the T-Mobile family plan from costco; I have unlimited messaging and all 3 lines in our family plan share 1000 minutes. When T-Mobile opened up pay-per-use mobile web (meaning we don't have to sign up for a data plan to access the web), we started being charged small amounts of data. I thought it was coming from sending picture messages to a (name)@textfree.us address and sending MMS to an email which I first thought was free, but this morning I checked my data usage and it had logged another bit of data usage. I knew I hadn't sent any messages to a [email protected] or [email protected] address, so I decided to test and send myself a picture message. Right after that I checked my data usage and it logged more data. The amount used is about 0.09 MB and when I look online I've been using small amounts of data about 15-20 times since October which has accumulated to the 0.09 MB now. This current billing cycle (until Nov 22) is the first billing cycle I've been charged data and I can't seem to figure out what I am being charged for exactly, because online it also says I have unlimited picture messaging. What is charging me data?
