broadcast conversion? Did they ever stop to think that many of us don't care whether we are ready for the change come June 2009 and will do just fine without a television invading our lives?

Last report I heard said that there were about 6 million people who aren't ready for the transfer. Not a huge amount, but I guess they think it has a big enough audience. And there was the fact that Congress passed a law extending it to June. Surprising in a way, since the whole reason for doing it was so the government could sell the extra broadcast channels.

because people are dumbasses and after having it beat into their heads they still don't believe it or know what it means.

because the media makes money off advertisers and viewers won't see the ads if they don't have TV. they want to make sure that they keep their viewer base for the ads they put on TV.

Because they're looking out for their own bottom line: they want people to be able to watch their shows so they can support their sponsors.
