[QUOTE="Bill, post: 2359140, member: 209810"] Christ? It is written third person yet if it is a record from someone who was there it would be first person, also the average life span was 30 yrs and it was not written till aprox 80 CE Also if when Christ was crucified the earth stood still for three days and was dark why is there no record even though the ancient Chinese and others kept detailed astronomical records ? Not only do we not know who wrote them, consider that none of the Gospels were written during the alleged life of Jesus, nor do the unknown authors make the claim to have met an earthly Jesus. Add to this that none of the original gospel manuscripts exist; we only have copies of copies. The consensus of many biblical historians put the dating of the earliest Gospel, that of Mark, at sometime after 70 C.E., and the last Gospel, John after 90 C.E. [Pagels, 1995; Helms]. This would make it some 40 years after the alleged crucifixion of Jesus that we have any Gospel writings that mention him! Elaine Pagels writes that "the first Christian gospel was probably written during the last year of the war, or the year it ended. Where it was written and by whom we do not know; the work is anonymous, although tradition attributes it to Mark..." [Pagels, 1995] Here is the bible quote you think somone would hav enoticed as they recorded each eclipse very well and all other major astronomical events Luke 23:44, “And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.” Matthew 27:45 From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mark 15:33 At the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour. Still curious tho as to why a lot of it is in 3rd person ppl who are eyewitnesses dont talk in the 3rd person and the parts where it talk about Jesus thought how on earth would they know what he was thinking ?
