Why isn't my hamster going up the tubes? His water is up there and he needs some. D=?

I just got a hamster today, and I have a two level CritterTrail cage. His water is up on the second level, and the only way up is through a tube. He'll go down the tubes, but not up. He hasn't had anything to drink since he's been here, which is about 2 1/2 hours. I tried bribing him with treats and such, and I even tried to help him up the tube. He won't go, and he needs to drink. I tried putting water in a little dish for him, and he didn't drink that either. I put him up on the second level right near his water bottle, and he won't drink the water. I don't think my dad will want to drive back to the pet store and get a water bottle with a hook to put on the side of the cage, so what do I do for the night?? I'm really worried that he won't have enough water for the night. Please help!! D=
