Why aren't their quotes for Tobacco on the CME or CBOE? Why is tobacco only traded in small town markets instead of being traded as a global commodity?
First of all look at your definition of the word commodity:
A generic, largely unprocessed, good that can be processed and resold. Commodities traded in the financial markets for immediate or future delivery are grains, metals, and minerals. They are generally traded in very large quantities. Tobacco is a commodity, however not exchanged on the commodity market because it is a carcinogen.
