Why my ford transmission won't shift into third?

I have a 94 ford probe and it won't shift out of second doesn't even sound like it's trying I'm wondering if it's pretty serious or something small

Your gear shift selector or return gate/spring is broken. This is a serious fault.

tranny is probably blown. happened to my chev and cost me a few grand to get a new transmission put in.

It could be tranny fluid. but it could also the gear is fucked up. i would put fluid in if it doesnt work take it to a mechanic

Wow, yeah. You think it's small? Try this is the biggest problem your car has ever had and will ever have in the future. You can't just fix this at your local muffler shop, you're going to have to go to a transmission shop and have it either rebuilt or replaced. Average national cost: $1700-$3000. Is your Ford Probe worth it? No. Ford Probe was probably the most unreliable car ever made in the 90s along with the Plymouth Neon.
