Everyday I see a lot of complaints against Trilegiant, a mortgage company.

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/scam_alerts/trilegiant_complaints.html

I check my online bank account once in a week. Few days back I was surprised to see $109.99 charged on my USBank credit card by TLG Hotline for some membership that I unknowingly enrolled.

Next day I went to USBank with the printout of the online statement. I explained the situation to the lady sitting at the desk. She asked me all the details whether I accidentally enrolled or accepted any offers through mail or phone. My answer was no. She asked me whether I called the TLG Customer care and asked for refund and cancel the membership. I said no, as I'm foreigner and unable to communicate properly in English, I came to the bank to take her help ( I wanted to put pressure on the lady to get my money back. If the bank is tied up with the TLG, then obviously the bank is cheating thier customers. I felt no mercy for the lady or the bank.) She called TLG customer care and gave my details and made sure that my membership with TLG will be closed and I'll get the refund.

Today I checked my online account and was happy to see my money back into my account. I'm not sure whether the TLG will cancel my membership. But once I pay all my credit card balance I'll close my USBank account. I still dont understand why US government still not acting on TLG. TLG doesn't have multiple branches, it doesn't have proper customer care (people are very rude), it doesn't offer any service, it doesn't have a proper website, TLG doesn't send any documents to their customer homes, TLG doesn't tell the customers what services are being offered for the money the customer is being charged, there are infinite complaints against TLG. Why should a person go to an attorney when the fraud is open and visible? Why cant the government step in and take proper action? ..

sorry for my poor English.

These are some of the worst experiences of some of the members or TLG

"the salesperson I went thru gave me the spiel...cancellation # etc and the last thing she said (rapidly and with a bit of a slur in speech) was: "So I'll go ahead and not cancel this, OK mr. W?...I had thought she said the opposit...that she would cancel it and hung up. Fast forward one year later...same charge...she tried the same "...not cancel...." line but I caught it this time and corrected her...Let's see what happend next year...."

"I made every attempt to call their 866-xxx-xxxx within the thiry day period to have this situation resolved, but they have the telephone system set up in such a way as to identify you from the membership number you enter and then to have a recorded voice tell you that 'due to the volume of calls, they are unable to process your call at this time. This 'call overload' never goes away. You cannot get through to them, period."

"this company somehow got my account info and has charged $273.74 since last oct. 07. we never authorized these charges. I thought it was something my wife had charged and that is why it was over looked on my part. I have never been provided any service or services by this parent company.

I am disabled and live on a fixed income, this has just added to my credit card dedt. "
