Why wont Divx Codex work?

Part way through the ripping of my dvd it comes up "excodex.dll has stopped working" i tryed downloading this dr divx 2.0 to help but it hasnt solved the problem.
Re-installing it didn't work either.

Can you offer me a program that i can use while im ripping my DVDs onto my computer, to RIP them to my computer i use tube hunter media center, it works fine just the code thing. I am using windows VIsta 34.

Or better yet can you offer me a solution to my problem?

Change the type of file you rip with (e.g. use avi instead of mp4) or change the codec within the program (e.g h.264 instead of divx).

Or you could try a different program. I good one i've found is CloneDVD Mobile.
