Why wont my blackberry pearl flip turn on ?

I just bought a Blackberry Pearl Flip, and it was working great.. all of a sudden when I was on facebook it shut off by itself and the battery was half full, I never charged it for 12 hours when I first got it ? Maybe thats a reason.. but the red light also turns on, then off. And also theres a white screen with a battery and a little blue icon like a Lighting Bolt on the battery then the screen shuts off again, PLEASE HELP .
 
Put it on the charger for at least 12 hours straight. Next time, follow the instructions.
