Message: <blockquote data-quote="Hammer&amp;Drill" data-source="post: 1334543" data-attributes="member: 545548">Get some WD 40 and spray that over all the electrics it will drive out any moisture, even in side a distributor cap on the older cars. don't worry about WD 40 being wet that is OK.When the engine is backfiring and smell of fuel, hold the accelerator to the floor as you have flooded the engine, don,t let it up keep turning the engine  that will clear the fuel and it should start, if it doesn't the other reason for backfiring is the timing is out but in your case unlikely as it was OK before the rain.</blockquote>
