Why won't my dog sleep through the night or stop whining when I leave the room?

My dog, Windsor, is an 8 yr. old Cockapoo. He is a VERY good dog, and on a normal day he'll follow me wherever I go, and is ALWAYS sleeping. ALWAYS. But the last few nights, I have woken up in the middle of the night, and he's been sitting in the corner of the door or in front of the door staring at it like there's someone there (we close our bedroom door). He's never done this, and has always slept through the night, but I couldn't stand it because he'd start pacing back and forth, so I put him in his crate, but he stayed awake all night. He's only been sleeping during the day, and he's never done this. I also noticed that when we were visiting a friend's house yesterday, when I'd leave the room he was in he started crying so loudly you could've sworn he was dying!! And he wouldn't stop until I came back in the room. He also flat out refused to move unless I was right beside him. What I'm saying is this is NOT normal behavior for my dog AT ALL. He's NEVER done this!! I would like to know if anyone has some insight on what could be happening?? He's already been to the vet as recent as 1 week and a half ago and he checked out in good health and completely fine. Any suggestions??
My dog is also neutered. So no, he's not horny.

hes getting up coz he needs to pee. and 8 is actually 56 so hes not that old, hes just moany.
and hes not horny either, he just think your HIS person, its actually a good thing that he trusts you so much.

but if he snaps at someone for going near you he is agressive and you need to tell him off.

bye :)

Takee him to the vet. When he does this, walk over to him and gently pet him and talk to him quietly, and calmly. Give him a bone before you go 2 bed. One that will keep him busy. My dog did the EXACT same thing for about 3 months. Have you tried letting him out? Keep your door open. Mabye he does not want to be in your room? Some dogs need change. Try different things. For a few nights try just calming him. For a few nights try giving him a bone. For a few nights try letting him out. See what works best :)If this helped please rate or choose as best answer :) thanks :)

separation anxiety. my dog has it to. just be with him/her as much as u can. if u work all day, i would consider finding him/her a better home. :( sorry

He may be getting old but if he isn't sleeping you might want to try letting him sleep on your bed and petting him until he calms down

Maybe your house is haunted and he sees a demonic entity that wants to hurt him. Have you noticed any strange things going on in the home? Is the house new?

heres one suggestion maybe your dog is afraid of the dark im being serious some dogs can be afraid of the dark and maybe hes not feeling safe those are my suggestions
