Why won't my mp3s won't work after I move them off of the desktop?

After I download a song, it automatically goes onto the desktop. But then when the desktop gets to full i move the mp3s into the My Music folder-----and then they stop working! Till I put them back on the desktop! What gives?

I use Windows Media Player by the way.
