I have a Tetra Whisper 30-60 gallon rated heater in my 50 gallon tank... it refuses to bring the water up past 71 degrees. I need it at 78. What's going on?! I've even tried running two heaters at once! It's supposed to have a little thermometer in it to tell when it is up to heat, and then it's supposed to shut off... well, it shuts off before its anywhere near the required temperature.
This is the second one I've tried! I took the other one back to the store and got a new one... oh, I also had a heater in the tank ( I got it with the used tank... it was heating the water too high, 82 degrees... I turned it down ever-so-slightly and it dropped the water to 70 and wouldn't bring it back up, not even with the knob turned all the way up)
Grr... sorry this is so long, but I can't do anything more with this tank until the temperature is stable... right now it has 5 gouramis in it,but I need to move my silver dollars over.
