"The civilians, most of whom have been displaced, are completely dependent on humanitarian aid from the outside, including food. as they are not in a position to grow their own crops," Paul Castella, the Sri Lanka delegation head of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), told IRIN. "Their safety is also one of our main concerns as there is fighting going on."
Mr. Castella, the primary function of the ICRC is to provide for immediate medical needs and ensure that everything possible is done for civilian populations to reach safety and aide. The determination of safety and aide does not have to meet your personally motivated, narrow standards. Your primary function may include distribution of food/medical aide but it is not to make false statements and/or allegations regarding the ability or “position” for civilians to grow food and regain self-sustainability. Why cannot able-bodied, agrarian populations grow food if they are given secure surroundings, access to materials and the opportunity to generate a profitable livelihood? It is a travesty to find that one population of my country has been subsisting on ration biscuits when the Terrorist Organization that has been controlling them has been feasting on the finest culinary delights of our island. I would not be surprised to find that you a guest at some of these elaborate feasts. Our children will not spend another 4 or 6 years surviving on ration biscuits and mythical delusions of Eelam. The following are excerpts from menu cards of the LTTE:

“MULLAITTIVU: THE tyrannical dictator, PRABHAKARAN and his trusted confidants while hiding in luxurious palatial mansions in VISUAMADU, MULLAITTIVU jungles, appeared to have thoroughly enjoyed sumptuous Biriyani meals when misguided Tiger teenagers were fed only on few bread crumbs in bunkers.
Friday’s (6) recovery of a special Menu Card from the recently captured PRABHAKARAN’s abode in VISUAMADU further affirmed that the inmates were used to taste Biriyani with Chicken curry, Noodles with Meat, Fried Rice with Prawns, Cuttle Fish or Meat and a wide assortment of other food varieties, such as String Hoppers, Rotties, Dosai, Pittu, Chappatti, Boiled Peas, Milk Rice, Herbal drinks, Bread, Chutney, Dry Fish and Fried Fish, Sambal, Papadam and cooked Vegetables. Some of those dishes have been earmarked for breakfast while the rest were listed either for lunch or dinner.
The Menu Card has also been classified for all seven days in the week as per writings and tables in the card. Troops still clearing those LTTE items found this Menu Card Friday (6) morning inside the kitchen section in the LTTE’s VISUAMADU palace, now confirmed to have been frequently used by Tiger hierarchy, including PRABHAKARAN himself. The Menu Card certainly speaks louder than what those words say. Over to you, our sisters and brothers of the Tamil community! “
The people aren’t even allowed a piece of meat or a glass of real milk but your staffs and these murderous terrorists have together enjoyed the finest hospitality of our island home. All the while disregarding the will of our peoples to be sovereign, united and live in the peace and prosperity that is so readily available to us. So much for these genteel, vegetarian “freedom fighters” that have managed to hold our peoples from their rightful place in a society that has respected all of her peoples.
Please know that you or your organization is not being singled out-read the comments that fellow Sri Lankans in the diaspora have made in reference to Eric Solheim.

What is next for Sri Lanka? She will be a united, sovereign, prosperous and peaceful nation. A good regional and international player. A country that will welcome those who understand and respect her wishes to always remain a diverse, intergrated, multi-cultural society.
