I live <8 miles from a town with DSL, but yet I still cant get service.

Ive been wondering about getting WildBlue internet since its the cheapest satellite internet ive seen, but i got a lot of questions.
1.) Online gaming with Nintendo DS compared to 28 kbps dialup. Ive seen that the site says there is lag between the satellite and earth, but will i be able to play my DS online with broadband quality, or can i expect the same crap i get with 28 kbps dial-up. YES, you can put dial-up into a wireless network.

2.) Is this actual broadband, or "accelerated dial-up". Ive seen in some forums that the internet can be really slow just like dial-up. I don't want to pay $50 bucks a month for 18 months for this + $300 for equipment lease.

3.) Cell phone internet vs Satellite. I can get UNLIMITED internet access with a cell phone modem card, and my brother gets about 2 bars on his cell phone, but i know that the cell phone will drop which would be annoying during downloads or online play
3.) So would Cell phone be better than Satellite?

4.) Since i live close to a town with DSL, could i get DSL service within the next few months? i have contacted ATT, but I've yet to receive any reply from them.
