I am a proud T-Mobile customer, and I have the brand new Mytouch 4G. However, today I heard about this merger between AT&T and T-mobile, making me kind of worried.

The improvement in 4G speeds sounds nice, the added coverage as well, but I just bought this Mytouch 4G and I'm worried that I'll have to change phones. Rumors are spreading that you'll need a phone that supports AT&T's new towers.

There is no way in hell that this fantastic phone can go obsolete. If anyone has any info on whether I'll need to change my phone or not, please help. This phone is the greatest phone I've ever used, and I will be so pissed if I lose it forever.

Unfortunately Yes. AT&T will send you a new phone of your choice that is comparable to what you have now. The reason they are sending you a new phone is because the 3G network on Tmobile will be shut off to launch 4G. This merger is going to create the Nation's most dependable wireless network with the largest 4G service in the US

Your contract should not be lengthened and expect it to take up to 12 months from today for the federal government to process this merger..

You can keep your phone but there will be no 3G service any longer. You will be able the use the phone on the edge network all you want
Welcome to AT&T :)

Yeah by the time that happens your phone will be old and outdated and you will want a new one anyway
