OK so iOS4 is now out. Don't know whether it's worth upgrading my 3GS just yet; I have 8 pages of apps of which have not been iOS4 tested. Will these apps still reload on iOS4 if they have not been "iOS4 tested"/signed? I understand they could be a bit buggy - but my concern is that if i upgrade I'll be left with about 5 basic apps leaving my iphone more useful as a doorstop than an all-in-one solution.

Guess it comes down to: should I upgrade now or wait 2-3 months to give the apps a chance to update?

Thanks!

Your apps will still work just fine. If you recall when the OS3 software came out not to long ago all of the 3G apps still worked on the 3GS. At the same time a lot of the apps had to be upgraded to the OS3 just to work, but that was only such a big deal because you had to pay for the software. All of your apps will still work on iOS4 even though if they aren't updated for the new software, the only thing you may notice is the apps might look a little pixelated since they won't be made for the new retina display on the iPhone 4. If you aren't getting the iPhone 4 then there's nothing to worry about because some of the new features within the software won't even work on the iPhone 3GS as it's primarily made for the iPhone 4. Therefore, I see no reason in you having to wait for the apps before upgrading. It won't make a difference. You won't lose ability to use your apps even if the developer hasn't made them for iOS4. I hope this answers your question. :-)

I'm just about positive they will work iOS4 has been out for some time for developers more than enough time for the to fix anything for compatibility. Just back up any apps and music, etc and restore...
i.e For instance I've had iOS4 for about 3 weeks now.. final version since I'm a developer, but the betas go way back, so like i said, they had more than enough time

Right now developers are trying to update the programs so they can run multitask, most of them arent updated yet
