Reuseable bags are sold in Hypermarkets to decrease the use of plastic. What sense does this make as long as all items inside the same market are packed in plastic? Why i.e. can't veggies be packed in paper? Why can't paper bags be used instead of plastic bags for people without reuseable bags?
Who ever visits any residential areas where "cafeterias" are located may see lots of steropore cups being thrown on the street. Why not serving tea in proclain cups against a deposit on return to avoid the trash thrown around? (Charging people may educate them
Why not introducing a refundable deposit on drinks in plastic bottles and cans? People would receive their deposit back when returning the bottle (plastic or glas) or a can so it can be collected properly? If still be thorwn on the streets/waste baskets there will be enough people to pick them up to receive the refundable deposit back
We got a carbon free city (Masdar) but are not able to do the basic to save the enviroment. There are expat groups cleaning up UAE beaches of cigaretts. Why not passing out ashtrays; at least at maintained beaches?
What's so difficut to seperate garbage into paper, plastic, glas, bio waste and others?
Emaratis need a wake up call how to save the enviroment and ALL expats need to support the same. Will Emaratis and expats pull the same string? What can done to improve "going green"?
Any thoughts/inputs? Thanks in advance.
