... do people ask such stupid questions when it would be quicker and easier to just enter the the query on a search engine?
lets limit this to questions about facts and not about opinions ... I totally agree about asking for multiple points of view .. but for questions where there is just one answer ... why?

Saves on their workload. Homework questions for example, take a college student with a massive workload, thinning it out would diffinately help him out.

Because people don't always want to hear a fact. They want to hear opinions from other normal people, just like them. And y the way, why didn't you just enter tis into a search engine? Surely you're not the only one who's asked this? So with the whole internet at your fingertips, why do yu chose to ask this on here? :)

Well for questions with just one answer, idk. Some people just need to hear it from another person. Most people don't trust what they read on th internet, and I really don't blame them. Although, I'll believe almost anything I read on here.

they want an array of mixed opinions instead of cookie cut answers from a search engine.
