WMV playback problems for Sony Ericsson?

Hi all!

I'm having trouble playing WMV files on my Sony Ericsson K790i phone(screen res 240*320). I have tried various solutions for this,based on the little digging around I did on google etc.

1. Tried converting to .mp4 at 176*144
Effect: Barely works,choppy video,too pixelated

2.Tried using WMV DVD8 encoder at 176*144
Effect: same old,unable to play file

Someone suggested me to try using a WMV7 encoder.I couldn't find one.
Could someone please point me towards a workable solution to transfer videos onto my phone without using 3gp? I have experienced that 3gp really messes up the audio quality,even with the highest settings,so it is of little use for encoding music videos etc.

PS: Please don't come up with silly solutions like 'buy a new phone',etc.Answer only if you have serious help.

The K790 does not support WMV, that is why it will not play.

Try further experimenting with formats it does support like 3gp or MP4. Adjust the frame rate and bit rate until you get satisfactory results.
