...military bases in the US? Wouldn't that help keep the US more safe? Seems to be the argument for American bases in those countries...
 
You forgot to mention that most, if not all nations with US bases, requested their presence and continually renew their leases. The United States doesn't need to ask for foreign aid to provide us national security.
