Would an iphone work in manitoba through telus if you used a sim card?

I'm thinking of getting an iphone and getting a sim card through telus, but would it be compatible on an unlocked iphone in manitoba where they are not sold yet?

edit: well i live in winnipeg so that's not a problem, but why wouldn't it?
Well i live in Winnipeg so that wouldn't be a problem, but why is it limited to only here?

No it wouldn't.

Telus does offer Sim Cards right now and telus does have it's service from their sim cards available in Winnipeg-only not the rest of manitoba.

Telus and MTS have yet to come to an agreement with telus being able to use the towers that MTS has ownership or some sort of area over.

Anyways, so why can't you do it?

Well. Telus does not offer (204) - manitoba area codes threw the Sim Card.

As of yet, however, let's say your an albertan and decide to come to Winnipeg on some sort of business you can use your Alberta area code in Winnipeg.

Now as a Winnipeger you can still get a telus sim card and use it in winnipeg as ive suggested. they would happily set you up an an Alberta area code number and set you up in winnipeg. But are you sure your interested in paying for long distance?
Unless you can find a reasonable price long distance plan, that doesn't seam like such a bad idea.

But so much hassel in the end.

Actually I have a 204 Telus Sim Card

I have an HTC phone with Telus which uses a SIM card and I have a 204 number attached to it so what you just stated is not true.
From my understanding from the Telus rep is that if I were to get a Telus iphone (not an unlocked one) through ebay or whatever it would work here in Winnipeg but not in the rest of Manitoba.....yet.
They are expecting the towers to be up and running no later then March 2011.
